BookYourMusic.com - A Brief History...

The origins of BookYourMusic.com date back to 2005, when one of our directors, Simon, founded a string quartet agency in order pay his way through college (whilst studying at the Royal Academy of Music). Google Adwords was a fairly new-fangled technology, and was rapidly transforming the world of online advertising. But no-one had yet used it to market String Quartets!

Sensing a business opportunity, he put together a business plan, won a rather significant award with which to seed the business, and proceeded to create and market a highly popular live music service, primarily providing String Quartets to corporate receptions and weddings.

The business was an immediate success, and within 18 months, he had provided live music to over 150 clients in many of London's top venues. The emphasis on quality and service and the innovative use of technology lives on in BookYourMusic.com today.

After a year or two away from the corporate scene, during which time he founded a record label and won a major recording award, Simon met our other director-to-be, Gary, a professional violist originally from San Francisco. Gary had moved to London and worked in several orchestras and chamber groups, and was working freelance on the London scene. He also had a background in business, having worked in Advertising Sales for many leading music magazines.

After working on a couple of gigs together, they started work on a music technology project, which led to a close working partnership over several months. Coincidentally, both had separately started thinking about re-entering the corporate market during this time, and a casual conversation about the possibility led to a more serious conversation, which led to an idea... why not jointly start a music agency?

The vision was clear from the start: what was missing in the market was a one-stop service that reliably took care of the entire music booking process, and was equally affordable for individual clients and corporate clients, regardless of budget. This led to the three core values - Quality, Service, Value - that power the business experience today.

BookYourMusic.com was available. We registered it and set up a 24 hour office in London. The journey began...
